I’ve owned this beautiful little Powder Horn since 1980 . I finally got around to doing some research on it the other day.  The horn is either a priming horn for a rifle or was part of a cased set of pistols.  It’s period carved with an American Eagle , a Drum and Tenn. Vol. 1814.  On the drum are the initials" A G ". This was obviously an expensive horn in it’s day so I started my search with the Officers of the Tennessee Volunteers.  Out of all the Officers there was only one with these initials and that was Capt. Abraham Gregg who enlisted in the 2nd Tenn.Vols. on Sept.1811 as a Ensign.  He served in the Creek War and was with Davy Crockett who was also in the 2nd Tenn. Vols for 3 months. He went on to attain the rank of Captain. In Dec.of 1813 he was one the 700 men assigned to Gen. Andrew Jackson  as replacements for the recent mutiny.  He served until the end of Feb. of 1814.  A really good looking and historic Powder Horn.
