This is a carbine that was carried by a soldier in the famous 10th Cav. Co.B known as the Buffalo Soldiers and is so stamped on it's trigger guard. They saw very heavy fighting out West in the Indian Wars. In 1898 they were sent to Cuba and participated in the charge up San Juan Hill with Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Rider's. Seeing as they were still using the trapdoor carbines at this time this gun may well have been in the involved in the charge. The carbine is in very good shape with a wonderful blue-brown patina. The action works well with a solid 3 click tumbler. The wood is also in good shape with no dings or dents.
