You can really see the Patterson influence on these long barrel early Baby Dragoons. All the serial numbers match with the exception of the correct wedge which is unnumbered.  It's serial # 8965 signify's it was manufactured in early 1849 just in time for the California Gold Rush.  The grips have the downward slope that you'll only find on the early pistols and retain most of their original finish.  The cylinder retains a partial Indian fight scene. The backstrap retains 90 % of it's original factory silver finish with the trigger guard retaining 75%.  The action is good.  All in all a pretty nice early Colt.
