Benjamin Watson originally started as a gunlock maker in Birmingham in 1723. He worked on his own for 53 years until Ryan bought in as a partner in 1777 forming  Ryan & Watson . Ryan at the time was also a Guardian of the Birmingham Proof House. This pistol is one of their early pistol made at the height of the Rev.War.  It exhibits early features such as an unbribled pan and gooseneck cock. The pistol is in it's original configuration with a wonderful untouched full stock.  There's no replaced wood and only a small crack by the top lock screw which is solid and stable.  Also the original ramrod has been shortened but looks O.K. The action works well and is a solid lock up and release on both half and full cock. It appears the same man did the engraving on the lock ,cock, barrel tang, side screws and furniture. A really nice pistol at a very good price.
