A nice untouched pistol with a great patina.  It dates from the Rev.War and was the kind carried by Officers both French and American.  It was converted to percussion later on in it's period of use. The method of conversion leads me to believe it was done in the South. The main reason I beleive it was done in the South is the fact that the holes in the lock were the frizzen spring was were filled in with lead. Also , it looks like a coin (possibly gold) was used as a gasket where the nipple is screwed into the bolster. The tip of the barrel looks like it caught a musket ball. A really neat pistol that more than likely see two or more Wars.
